Enabling Zero-Emission Deep-Sea Shipping

Amon Bulk is driving the transition of global bulk shipping towards a zero-emission future. As part of the Amon Maritime family, the company combines commercial shipping expertise with cutting-edge clean-fuel technology to deliver scalable, climate-neutral solutions for deep-sea transport.

In a major milestone, Amon Bulk has been awarded NOK 298 million in investment grants from Enova to develop three ammonia-fuelled Kamsarmax bulk carriers. The vessels, each with a capacity of approximately 80,000-85,000 DWT, are designed for efficient, long-haul operations with zero-carbon emissions in operation.

These ships represent a new generation of bulk carriers – purpose-built for ammonia propulsion and optimised for energy efficiency, safety, and future regulatory requirements. Together with Amon Bulk’s previosly supported Capesize projects, the company is now developing a fleet of five zero-emission bulk vessels scheduled for delivery between 2029 and 2030.

“This is a significant step for Amon Bulk and for the shipping industry’s green transition”, says André Risholm, CEO of Amon Maritime. “We are proving that zero-emission deep-sea shipping can be both technically feasible and commercially viable.”

With a strong public support, forward-leaning partners, and a clear commercial focus, Amon Bulk is helping turn sustainable shipping from ambition into reality – enabling customers to decarbonise their logistics chains and meet the demands of low-carbon future.
